Colonel Sanders Seen From Space Over Area 51

This is no joke. Last night I was bored and surfing the net. I decided to check out aerial shots of some of our earth's unexplained areas like the Nazca Lines in Peru, the pyramids, and Area 51 when to my chagrin I noticed Colonel Sanders smiling at me form Rachel, Nevada. Weird. At this point I didn't know whether this was a genius marketing ploy, if Google has decided to accept internal ads from quick service eateries, or whether some Google employee was ticked off from being laid off and decided to play a practical joke. I decided to do a little search and found that in 2006 KFC was allowed to construct a 65,000 sqft billboard to be seen from space.

UK newspaper, The Register reports that KFC big cheese Gregg Dedrick duly said in a statement: "If there are extraterrestrials in outer space, KFC wants to become their restaurant of choice." He added: "If we hear back from a life form in space today - whether NASA astronauts or a signal from some life form on Mars - we'll send up some Original Recipe Chicken."

The mammoth smiling chicken mogul is no longer there, but it raises the question; did KFC know when Google was going to take the photos from space and if so could this be used for an emerging, WAY out of the box media? How can other brands tap into this system? Enjoy the video a share your thoughts!
