NonTraditional Marketing Mash by Omarr Cantú

Non-Traditional Marketing Guru. Social Media Addict. Ad Man. Movie Buff. Live Music Lover. Cigar Aficionado.

Traditional Marketing is Dead. Given this is a bold statement, but it is my belief that with a growing generation of Americans that have become desensitized by the constant bombardment of media the only way to get recognized is by taking a non-traditional approach.

Non-Traditional is the future of the industry, and that's where I come in. I love non-traditional marketing and often come across many original (and not so original) ideas during my travels out in the field. The disciplines discussed will all fall under non-traditional marketing but will include event marketing, field marketing, street marketing, and of course guerrilla marketing. This is a mash of cool ideas that catch my eye that I thought would be worthy to share with you. Enjoy the mash and don't forget to wash your hands.

Dalton Agency Recognized As A Google Favorite Place

The Dalton Agency - Orlando Office has been selected to join Google's national list  as a "Google Favorite Place" based on site traffic and brand recognition.  Only 100,000 business were selected of the 1 Million plus local businesses listed on Google Maps.  As part of Google's commitment to local business listings, the search giant has created a storefront program that ties into Google Maps.  Dalton Agency's Orlando office was added to to the search database on July 1, 2009.

Earlier this week, storefront window stickers bearing the Google Maps logo and QR code were distributed national to the most popular businesses in Google's Local Business Center Database. Now anyone can take a photo of the QR barcode which looks similar to an augmented reality barcode with their enabled smartphones such as iPhone, Android and most BlackBerry handsets.  Using the code-scanning application, consumers will be able to scan the code and gain instant access to business information such as maps, reviews, photos, videos, and more.  This will also link the business lising to other similar applications such as Yelp! which offers similar branded services.

According to CNET's Relevant Results blog by Tom Krazit, "The company analyzed which local listings were generating the most activity, and declared those to be "Favorite Places on Google," and therefore eligible for the sticker promotion. Shoppers who happen by the store can scan the sticker to bring up the business' Place Page with listing information as well as reviews, photos, and links to sites with more information about the business."

Dalton Agency is the agency of record for such major brands as McDonlad's®, Beall's®, military contractor BAE Systems®, Jacksonville Jaguars®, and medical company Biomet Microfixation®.

Experiential Marketing: McDonald's Sampling

Fm_port_orange

On Saturday, October 3, 2009 the Mickey D's Street Team supported the Potochnik organization to execute Port Orange's largest event of the year; Port Orange Family Days. The Mickey D's Street Team along with the Potochnik family sampled over 30 gallons of Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee to approximately 20,000 people in attendance. McDonald's took ownership of the event by maximizing the number of impressions through many mediums including radio announcements and chatter through KRO County 93.1, being included on event collateral, website, and by having the inflatable Arches placed near the midway. Port Orange Family Days: i'm lovin' it!
